TEKNE Produktion’s art advisor Jette Gejl is the new president of municipal arts council

TEKNE Produktion’s art adviser, CAVI’s artist in residence Jette Gejl Kristensen has been appointed as the new president of the municipality of Aarhus’ arts council.

The arts council is an arm’s length advisory board advising the city council. It has an important role to play in the allocation of funds for culture in Aarhus. At the appointment of the new arts council for the next four-year period of time, alderman for cultural affairs Flemming Knudsen said:

- Via evaluations of the city’s major cultural institutions as well as its involvement in the distribution of cultural fundings the arts council is contributing  to the development of  the city’s cultural life. The arts council an important guarantee that artistic qualities remain to be a main focus.

Members of the current Kunstråd set up for the period August 2008 - June 2012, are:

Jette Gejl Kristensen, President, professional painter and art consultant. Artist in residence, CAVI

Hanne Svejstrup, project coordinator at Dansens Hus, Copenhagen. Member of the board of representatives  of the National Arts Council

Jens Krogsgaard, opera singer. Former soloist at Den Jyske Opera and the Royal Danish Opera

Carsten Heller, independent music producer and sound technician

Birgit Johnsen, professional painter. Lecturer at Aarhus Arts Academy. Curator, design and structure writer

Søren Jessen, professional writer and painter

Jørn Langsted, Professor at the Department of Dramaturgy, University of Aarhus.
